Assassin's Creed: The Catalyst: Chapter 3 The morning sun burned Perotto's exposed back as he swam to the shore of the Tiber River. Screams could be heard from up above, which meant the situation just escalated into something beyond panic. He ran to a set of stairs that led to the streets above. Acrid smoke filled his lungs. He knew there had been people left to die in that building, and he was at least partially to blame. I could have made the time. There were at least 30 lives in those apartments, and I only managed to save one. Families. Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons...all left to die in the flames. The people who I vowed to protect from the brutality of the Templars were now nothing but ash in the wind...and I could have saved them. I should have known this was a trap. An unknown seal, from an unknown sender. How could I be so blind? This was a novice mistake, and I should have seen it coming...
